Well, I have no idea why they are sideways - but two 6" paper-pieced hearts. These are a free pattern from Carol Doak if you are a member of her Yahoo Group. I enjoyed doing these, though I'm not sure the woven effect came out as well as I'd hoped. I had to unsew and resew the seam at the top center of the hearts - the red thread was showing, so I had to pull it out and redo that section with white thread.
